I’m Nofar Schweitzer – a Haifa based classic animation director, video editor, and visual artist. I graduated from the Screen-Based Arts Department at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2018), with a specialization in classic animation. In my work, I combine everyday materials – video footage and documentary imagery – with hand-drawn digital animation, using textures of flowers, twigs, food, and other organic elements. Through visual manipulations of these materials, I create rich, poetic visual worlds with a vivid presence.
I explore new ways of storytelling by combining rhythm, movement, imagery, and texture. The movement in my work emerges from emotion and intuition, reflecting my personal interpretation of reality and how I experience it. For me, storytelling is a means to create atmosphere, to guide the viewer through a sensory and imaginative journey, and sometimes to challenge conventional narrative expectations.
My films have been presented in festivals and exhibitions in Israel and abroad, and I enjoy collaborating with creators from the worlds of cinema and animation. To me, animation is a living, flexible language that allows me to move between the personal and the public, the poetic and the concrete, giving visual expression to what cannot always be expressed in words.
